In 2018, the Turkish Studies Department at the Universität Duisburg-Essen founded the Transnationales Literaturarchiv  (Transnational Literary Archive), which concentrates on Turkish-German cultural heritage as an area of research. The Transnational Literary Archive is the first archive of its kind in Germany. It provides an institutional framework for systematic research into a hitherto overlooked but central aspect of Germany’s cultural landscape. The archive provides a forum in which the significance of transnational literature in Germany is brought to the fore and it makes possible the comparative study of literature in its multilingual dimensions. The aim of the Transnational Literary Archive is to facilitate access to Turkish-German cultural heritage through a range of archival materials and to promote new research perspectives and initiatives.
