In 2018, the Institute of Turkish Studies founded the Transnationales Literaturarchiv (Transnational Literary Archive), which focuses on the Turkish-German cultural heritage as an area of research. In doing so, the Institute is for the first time creating a framework for the systematic research of a so far overlooked but central part of Germany’s literary history. The archive provides a forum in which the meaning of transnational literature in Germany is brought to the centre of attention and a comparative research of literature in its multilingual dimensions is made possible. The aim of the Literary Archive is to enable access to the Turkish-German cultural heritage through a range of materials and to link it with new research perspectives.
