Academy in Exile’s Garden(s) of Refuge Project is part of the Internationale Gartenausstellung IGA2027 taking place in the Ruhr area in 2027. As part of the MEIN GARTEN Network Platform (https://www.meingarten.iga2027.ruhr/projekte/details/academy-in-exiles-gardens-of-refuge/), Garden(s) of Refuge will also be featured in the event series “Pop-Up IGA” in Dortmund starting in July 2026. Furthermore, our exhibition What Grew at Home and our digital replica of the mini forest, Minecraft Garden(s) of Refuge, will be included in an educational program aimed at fostering public awareness and engagement about the interconnections between climate change and forced migration. Participating in IGA2027 will allow Garden(s) of Refuge to share knowledge and experiences with local as well as international visitors who will travel to the Ruhr area to explore the garden exhibition’s varied offerings.
